Desire without Mercy: The faithless world of Daniel Roman

About Daniel Roman

Daniel RomanThough they may explore different people's lives and their many and varied kinks, my books set out to describe strong women with a healthy libido coupled with a disregard for social conventions, and the men for whom they are the centre of the universe. These women may sometimes be a little ruthless when it comes to satisfying their needs, leaving their men occasionally a little derailed, but one thing is for certain—there's little chance of anyone getting bored, and their men wouldn't want them any other way.

There is also a desire to create three-dimensional characters who are neither hero nor villain and just as complex, intriguing and unpredictable as those who read the books. Just because one character appears to exert control over another, doesn't mean they have control over themselves. Just because a character appears to be controlled, doesn't mean they aren't enjoying being exactly who they want to be. Erotic fiction is about fantasy, I want to enable readers to each build their own unique mental images from my words, thereby making the sharing of these fantasies powerful and personal experiences, as if the reader were living these events and emotions themselves. There is also a certain amount of angst and flippancy—usually simultaneous. I think there has to be an element of real jeopardy in any adventure to make anticipating the final outcome meaningful. But I'm equally not a human who finds it easy to resist inappropriate humour in the depths of a crisis.

I would love to think my books have been written in a way that can appeal to vigorous women and ardent men alike—even if a particular kink isn't really your thing (or so you might currently think?) However, read on in the knowledge that the subject matter often includes frequent adult language and detailed descriptions of sexual acts, along with a certain peppering of well-intentioned humiliation and mischievous humour. Though I do want the story to have a real edge and provoke real feelings in your gut, it is not my intention to incite any emotions that stray into bleak or disturbing territory. After all, these are tales of fantasy, and right now, I think we all need a bit of fantasy escapism more than ever.

If you enjoy one of my books, please sign up for either the publication mailing list (which will only send you an e-mail when a new book is released) or the newsletter (which is a kind of monthly writer's blog), or both! You can also contribute to polls, or just contact us, and give feedback about what worked for you, or what didn't—along with guidance as to what kinds of stories you'd like to read in the future. We will never share your data or contact you at any other frequency, or for any other reasons than those stated—and you can easily opt-in or out at any time via the website. Finally, I would like to thank you so much for showing an interest in my work, and I hope it helps you to lose yourself in a personal fantasy scenario you will find both arousing and entertaining, without the inconvenience of relationship crises, disappointing encounters and having to do the laundry afterwards.
